Buyer’s Remorse: What Voters Can Do to Bring Back Sanity.
Look. You voted for Joe Biden and The Titan understands. The former President Donald Trump was mean and he is orange. You wanted to trade the mean and the orange for what the media mantras as “the adults are back in charge”. The problem is, what you wanted and what you got are two totally and completely different things.
Where you wanted competency you got senility instead. Where you wanted civility you got a weaponized banana republic instead. The old adage: “be careful for what you wish for” is now so sage and so relevant, only the most staunch ideologues are immune from it’s glaring truth. Let’s take a quick look at what voters got for their political money and what can be done to reverse this crazy train and get things back on track.
It’s the Economy Stupid.
First, instead of “mean tweets” with a 2.5% inflation rate (heralding back to the first week of January, 2020), you now have an inflation rate of over 8% (Fall 2022).
How is this attributable to Joe Biden? The Titan thanks you for asking! Joe Biden had a brief moment of honesty during his campaign when he stated that he would end fossil fuels. Like I said, this was one of the few moment of actual honestly. Biden knows who butters his bread . . . that being the extreme political left wing (and China, and Ukraine). So, being perfunctory in regard to keeping to the script, Biden made his position known in many gaffe heavy statements to the media:
“Would there be any place for fossil fuels, including coal and fracking, in a Biden Administration?” CNN’s Dana Bash asked during a primary debate in July 2019.
“No,” Biden replied. “We would work it out; we would make sure it’s eliminated and no more subsidies for either of those. No more fossil fuels.”
Another young reporter was told by Biden: “Kiddo, I want you to just take a look, I want you to look in my eyes. I guarantee you, I guarantee you we’re going to end fossil fuels.”
So the root cause of our inflation isn’t the war in Ukraine (as Biden’s laughable Press Secretaries have claimed). It’s not the aggression of Vladimir Putin. Our inflation and subsequent impending recession is because Joe Biden drank the kool-aid and went to war with the very industry that fuels our entire economy . . . and the economy of the entire world.
So what does that mean for everyone else?
Instead of a flourishing bull market on Wall Street, we have a highly unstable market that has dropped in value precipitously. This means that people hoping to retire have lost 25% of their portfolio’s value (or more) and will have to keep on showing up to work.
Instead of people buying a house (because the mortgage interest rates were 3% for a 30-year conventional loan), now they are begging off – or reducing the scope of a planned purchase.
Instead of having money left over at the end of the month, households have seen their cost basis expand beyond what has been experienced in decades.
Don’t take The Titan’s word for it.
The Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics has published the consumer price index for March of 2022 with the following disclosures:
- Between March 2021 and March 2022, the all items index increased 8.5%, before seasonal adjustment. It marks the largest 12-month increase since the period ending in December of 1981.
- The price of gas increased significantly in March 2022. The gasoline index was up more than 18% percent over the month and over 25% in the past year. Gas price inflation accounted for more than half of the all items index monthly increase.
- The food index increased 8.8% between March 2021 and March 2022, which accounted for the largest 12-month increase since the period ending in May of 1981.
- The combined index for meats, poultry, fish and eggs increased nearly 14% between March 2021 and March 2022. One of the biggest increases was for beef, which increased 16% over the last year.
- The cost of air travel has also risen in 2022. The index for airline costs increased 10.7% in March, after rising 5.2% in February of 2022 alone.
- Healthcare costs in the U.S. are getting more expensive. In March 2022, the medical care index increased 0.5% in March, which also includes a .05% increase in the index for physicians’ services. However, the index for prescription drugs fell 0.2% in March.
- The shelter index, which measures costs associated with housing, increased 5% over the last year, which is the biggest 12-month increase since May of 1991.
- The index for household furnishings and operations grew by more than 10% over the past year. It was the biggest 12-month increase since the period ending in July of 1975.
Spending Yourself Out of Debt
Now, The Titan is not a fiduciary expert. The Titan is not an economist or an accountant. The Titan is . . . well just a Titan. With that being said, it seems to The Titan that if your economy is being weighted down with the burgeoning strain of inflation . . . the last thing you should do if you are Joe Biden is to push for and sign off on – massive government spending campaigns. That being said, this observation stems from a position of logic and reason that is more or less absent from politics. If you work in the Acme Match and Gasoline Factory, it’s madness to ask people to smoke outside. I digress.
Thankfully, while all of the above was going on, the former President Donald Trump’s Twitter and Facebook accounts had been suspended. This means that literally there were no more mean tweets. You paid the price and you got what you wanted: no more mean tweets.
The Titan didn’t want to leave you hanging while you mulled over the pig-in-a-poke deal you got stuck with.
Wait! There’s MORE!
Never mind that the U.S. Constitution literally requires the President secure the borders, Joe Biden knows better. He knows that the nasty wall being built along the southern border of the United States is somehow racist (although he can’t quite remember how to get on an airplane without falling down).
The Border Sham
You’re choice for the “most powerful man in the free world” sent his crack side kick – Kamala Harris to “handle” the massive waves of illegal immigration flowing into our country (please don’t tell Hunter Biden that The Titan mentioned crack).
Okay, well by “sent” I don’t mean literally go down to the border and assess what’s going on. That would be asking too much. Besides, I thought the whole subterfuge was to bolster the voting ranks of the Democratic Party. Immigrants (legal or not) are perfect candidates to get placed on the welfare rolls. They’ll have no choice but to keep the sycophants in power. The Titan is just throwing out guesses here. The Titan is sure all of this border activity is really just because of legitimate asylum seekers.
Anyway, there’s nothing to see here. It’s all because Covid . . . and racism. Or maybe it was racism then Covid. It doesn’t matter.
The point of all of this is as follows:
Yes, you can vote for people like Joe Biden but, you can’t do that and have a retirement portfolio worth anything, an economy that doesn’t self-destruct, buy a car (used or not), go out to eat like you used to when you had money, or actually plan for a better future. That ship has sailed and those things are out the window.
As the mid-terms elections of 2022 draw near, perhaps ask yourself. Do you really think a tiny fraction of the earth’s atmosphere (carbon dioxide) is really responsible for heating the entire globe . . . or could there be money reasons for the push to end fossil fuels? Is it even conceivable?
So when you sidle up to the voting booth this November. Think. Do millions of illegal immigrants flowing into the United States make it a better place (by displacing jobs for legitimate citizens)? Or is it a ploy to build up the voting ranks for a party people in the U.S. wouldn’t vote for if they really knew what was going on?
Conclusion:
The Titan can only give you mere mortals his best advice:
So says The Titan.
